Hello World

Author: Cal

Welcome to my blog! This is just a test post to ensure everything is working correctly. I’m reusing an old Mastodon post to test comments and formatting.

I recently took an NVMe upgrade as an opportunity to try #KDE, motivated by recommendations from podcast hosts who praised KDE’s configurability and theme support. I like GNOME, but who wouldn’t like a little more color?

My initial experience with themes on KDE (Fedora) has been less than stellar. Despite experimenting with several popular themes, I keep encountering issues such as missing icons, hard-to-read elements, and other visual inconsistencies. These problems persist even after logging out and back in. Oddly, some icons seem to work initially after applying the theme but then disappear randomly.

Am I using KDE incorrectly? Are there more steps than just selecting the theme in global themes? Is theme support still a bit janky with the recent move to v6? Is there a trick?

Themes are the main reason I’m trying KDE.

Feel free to leave a comment if you have any suggestions or insights!
